The first thing we should look for when marrying is how committed the person is to Islam. Prophet Muhammad (sallallahu alayhi was sallam) said, "A woman is normally sought as a wife for her wealth, beauty, nobility, or religiousness (adherence to Islam), but choose a religious woman and you will prosper. " (Muslim) And he said, "A woman is married for four things, i.e., her wealth, her family status, her beauty and her religion. You should marry the religious woman (otherwise) you will be a loser. "(Bukhari) And he said, "The whole world is a provision, and the best object of benefit of the world is the pious woman. #ওমরমুখতার #lionofthedesert #omarmukhtar #লিবিয়া #ইটালি #ইসলামিকমুভি সাধারণ মক্তব-শিক্ষক হয়েও জীবনের শেষ দু’টি দশক তিনি যুদ্ধ করেছেন ইতালির উপনিবেশবাদী ফ্যাসিস্ট সরকারের সেনাদের বিরুদ্ধে। মৃত্যু থেকে বেঁচে যাওয়ার টোপও যাকে সত্য থেকে সরাতে পারেনি এক বিন্দু, সেই ওমর মুখতার আজো বেঁচে আছেন বিশ্ববাসীর হৃদয়ে। প্রতিরোধ সংগ্রামের মহাপ্রতীক ওমর মুখতার মৃত্যুর ৮৭ বছর পরও মানুষের স্মরণে রয়ে গেছেন ‘মরু সিংহ’ নামে।

১৯৩১ সালের ১৬ সেপ্টেম্বর ইতালি দখলদাররা তাকে মৃত্যুদণ্ড দেয়। ২০ হাজার মানুষের সামনে তার সে মৃত্যুদণ্ড কার্যকরা হয়। তিনি শত্রুপক্ষের হাতে শাহাদত বরণ করেছেন, কিন্তু লিবিয়া তথা পুরো বিশ্বের তরুণ প্রজন্মের কাছে অসম্ভব বৈষম্যের বিরুদ্ধে প্রতিরোধের প্রতীক হিসেবে বেঁচে আছেন।

পূর্ব লিবিয়ার উল্লেখযোগ্য গোত্র আল মানফাহতে ১৮৬২ সালে জন্মগ্রহণ করেন ওমর আল মুখতার। লিবিয়ার পূর্ব উপকূলীয় এলাকায় অবস্থিত তার গ্রামের নাম ছিল জাওইয়াত জানজুর। হজ পালনে সৌদি আরবের মক্কার দিকে দীর্ঘ যাত্রাপথে তার পিতা মারা যান। পরে পিতার ইচ্ছানুযায়ী পারিবারিক বন্ধু ও বিশিষ্ট আলেম শেখ হুসেইন গারিয়ানির কাছে পড়াশুনা করেন ওমর আল মুখতার। গারিয়ানির শিষ্যত্বে খুব অল্প সময়ের মধ্যেই পুরো কুরআন হেফজ করেন তরুণ ওমর।

তারপর লিবিয়ার পূর্বাঞ্চলীয় আল জাগবুব এলাকায় ভ্রমণ করেন তিনি, যা ছিল ইসলামি সংস্কার আন্দোলনের পথিকৃৎ শেখ মোহাম্মদ ইবন আলি সেনুসির এলাকা। তার কাছে আট বছর ধর্মতত্ত্ব, ইসলামিক বিজ্ঞান ইত্যাদি বিষয় অধ্যয়ন করেন ওমর মুখতার। এ সময় তিনি শেখ মাহদি সেনুসির কাছেও কিছু দিন অবস্থান করেন। ১৮৯৭ সালে শেখ মাহদি তাকে লিবিয়ার পূর্বাঞ্চলীয় শহর জাওইয়াত আল কুসুরের গভর্নর নিয়োগ করেন। সেখানে তার প্রজ্ঞা, ন্যায়পরায়ণতা এবং বিবাদ মীমাংসায় সুখ্যাতি ছড়িয়ে পড়ে। এ সময়ই তিনি সিদি ওমর বা স্যার ওমর নামে পরিচিতি লাভ করেন, মূলত শেখ ও পণ্ডিতদেরই এ উপাধি দেয়া হতো।

এরপর মুখতার সুদান গিয়ে কয়েক বছর শেখ মাহদি সেনুসির ডেপুটি হিসেবে দায়িত্ব পালন করেন। পরে মুখতার আবারো জাওইয়াত আল কুসুরের গভর্নর নির্বাচিত হন। সে সময় ওসমানীয় সামাজ্য লিবিয়া শাসন করত। তবে একপর্যায়ে তিনি ধর্মীয় পণ্ডিত বা গভর্নর থেকে পাল্টে পরিণত হন উপনিবেশবিরোধী এক প্রতিরোধ সৈনিকে।

একের পর এক লড়াই করে যান ব্রিটিশ, ফ্রান্স ও সবশেষে ইতালিয়ান ঔপনিবেশিক গোষ্ঠীর বিরুদ্ধে। ব্রিটিশ সৈন্যদের বিরুদ্ধে তিনি প্রথম লড়াইয়ে নামেন যখন তারা লিবিয়া ও মিসর সীমান্তে সেনা মোতায়েন করে। ১৯০০ সালে ফ্রান্সের বাহিনী দক্ষিণ সুদান ও শাদে হামলা চালাতে চাইলে তাদের বিরুদ্ধে যুদ্ধে নামেন মুখতার। ১৯১১ সালে ইতালি ওসমানীয় বাহিনীতে যোগ দেয়ার আগে মুখতার জাওইয়াত থেকে এক হাজার যোদ্ধা নিয়ে ওসমানীয় সেনাদলের জন্য পাঠান। তখন তাকে ‘শেখ অব দ্য মুজাহিদীন’ উপাধি দেয়া হয়।

১৯১২ সালে রোম লিবিয়াকে ইতালির উপনিবেশ বলে ঘোষণা দেয়। পরবর্তী ২০ বছর আল মুখতার ইতালির ঔপনিবেশিক শক্তির বিরুদ্ধে লড়াই চালিয়ে যান। ওমর আল মুখতারের গেরিলা হামলার মুখে ইতালি অনেক ক্ষয়ক্ষতি স্বীকার করতে বাধ্য হয়। ১৯১৩ সালে লিবিয়ার উত্তর-পূর্বাঞ্চলীয় শহর দার্নাতে দুই দিনব্যাপী যুদ্ধে ৭০ জন ইতালীয় সেনা নিহত ও শতাধিক সেনা আহত হয়েছিল।

১৯৩০ সালে ইতালি বাহিনীর সাথে এক প্রচণ্ড যুদ্ধের সময় মুখতারের ঘোড়া ও তার ট্রেডমার্ক তারের ফ্রেমের চশমা শত্রুদের চোখে ধরা পড়ে যায়। সে-সময় ইতালির সেনা কমান্ডার মার্শাল রডোলফো গ্রাজিয়ানি তার সেই বিখ্যাত উক্তিটি করেন, ‘আমরা আজ তার চশমাটি নিয়েছি, কাল তার মাথা নেবো।’

১৯৩১ সালের ১১ সেপ্টেম্বর ইতালিয়ান বাহিনীর সাথে লড়াইয়ের সময় এক ব্যক্তি তাকে সিদি ওমর বলে সম্বোধন করে ওঠলে শত্রুরা তাকে চিনে ফেলে এবং শেষ পর্যন্ত তাকে গ্রেফতার করতে সক্ষম হয়। তিন দিন পর ১৪ সেপ্টেম্বর গ্রাজিয়ানি বেনগাজিতে পৌঁছেন এবং ওমর মুখতারের জন্য বিশেষ ট্রাইব্যুনাল গঠন করা হয়। ১৬ সেপ্টেম্বর ২০ হাজার মানুষের সামনে তাকে ফাঁসি দেয়া হয়।

বিচার চলাকালে ইতালির কর্তৃপক্ষ তাকে জানায়, তিনি যদি তার মুজাহিদদের অস্ত্র পরিত্যাগের আহ্বান জানান, তাহলে তাকে ছেড়ে দেয়া হবে। সে সময় মুখতার তার বিখ্যাত উক্তিটি করেন, ‘আমার শাহাদাত আঙুল যেটি প্রতিদিন সাক্ষ্য দেয়- আল্লাহ ছাড়া কোনো প্রভু নেই এবং মুহাম্মাদ সা: তার রাসূল, সেই হাত দিয়ে কোনো মিথ্যে কথা বা শব্দ লেখা সম্ভব নয়। আমরা আত্মসমর্পণ করব না। আমরা জয়ী হবো, নচেত আমরা শহীদ হবো।’

১৯৩১ সালের ১৬ সেপ্টেম্বর সকালে বেনগাজি থেকে ৫০ কিলোমিটার দূরে এক ফাঁসির মঞ্চে হাতবাঁধা অবস্থায় তাকে আনা হয়। তিনি তখন নির্বিকার ও অচঞ্চল চিত্তে কালিমায়ে শাহাদাত পাঠ করছিলেন। ২০ হাজার মানুষ প্রিয় নেতার শেষ বিদায়ে শরিক হতে সেখানে উপস্থিত ছিলেন।
